Lavrov to Africans: The West is striving to build a unipolar world

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that partners in Africa know what the West is doing to build a unipolar world and prevent the formation of a new democratic world order.

Lavrov said in Addis Ababa at the end of his African tour that Russia is not responsible for the rise in energy and food prices, but rather Western countries that have imposed sanctions on the export of Russian energy and food resources.

He stressed that the West has a choice between following unipolarity and acquiescing to it, or facing sanctions and threats. He said: We are confident that the majority of countries do not accept this colonial approach and would like to live independently. He stressed that the West is trying to obstruct the process of forming a new democratic world order.

He added: We do not wish to have enemies, and NATO (NATO) considered Russia and China as enemies in the Madrid meeting. He pointed out that China is a target for the Americans because it is the number one economic power and Washington refuses to compete.

On Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Minister concluded his African tour with a press conference with his Ethiopian counterpart Demke Mekonnen in Addis Ababa. (dad)
