Emirates News Agency – “Sports Authority” and “Athletics Federation” discuss talent discovery strategy

DUBAI, 27th July, WAM / His Excellency Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the General Sports Authority, discussed, during a meeting with Major General Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Al Murr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Athletics Federation, the development of new strategic provisions for the Federation, the development of the discovery mechanism To develop talents and enhance the chances of national teams to achieve continental and international achievements in light of selecting athletics as one of the priority sports.

The meeting was attended by Nasser bin Ashour, Secretary-General of the Federation, and members of the Board of Directors, Faisal Al-Khamiri and Rashid Nasser.

During the meeting, the forms directed to all priority sports federations were presented, which include detailed tables on the talents in each age group and the plans drawn for their development, and a study of the work mechanism within the federation to determine ways to enhance governance, as this meeting paves the way for holding a series of workshops with the aim of formulating the entire strategy clauses.

Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum said: “The authority is working with priority sports federations to develop new strategies aimed at strengthening governance within the federations and developing administrative work, which helps to improve the work of the federations and pave the way for achieving more continental and international achievements in line with the objectives of the sports sector strategy. 2032, which all federations are essential partners in achieving.”

He added, “The authority is looking with the federations to enhance opportunities for achieving international achievements by studying talents in each age group and setting appropriate programs to develop them, in addition to setting plans to enhance the presence of sports in society, specifically among students, with the aim of developing a mechanism for attracting talent, which will be strengthened through the presence of Priority sports within the school games project.

The authority is holding meetings and workshops with all priority sports federations to develop future strategies aimed at preparing new sports champions, in light of the Sports Coordinating Council’s announcement of a list of priority sports that includes athletics, judo, archery, archery, and fencing.
