In Adliswil ZH there was a moment of shock for the residents of a house on Wednesday morning. As pictures from a reader reporter show, a balcony railing collapsed!
According to the pictures, part of the balcony is now on the terrace of the apartments below.
Blick was able to speak to affected residents on Wednesday followingnoon. One tells that he was sitting on a bench on his terrace around 9 a.m. “Then I heard a crack. And noticed how the upper plant troughs leaned forward.»
15 minutes following the first crack, parts of the balcony fall down
The resident of the apartment building rushes to the apartments above and next to him and rings the bell. “To warn the residents.” Then it happened: “About 15 minutes following the first crack, the plant troughs fell down onto the balcony. It made a loud noise. Fortunatly nobody was hurt.”
The resident said he didn’t know how this happened. “The house is around 50 years old – and nothing comparable has ever happened. We don’t blame the administration, they do their job well. They contacted us following the incident and asked if everything was ok.”
He also doesn’t know when the big chunks on his balcony will be cleared. “I guess the chunk that came down is probably 800-1000 kilograms.”
Blick finds cat Jimmy
His neighbor was also affected by the balcony fall. “I miss my cat Jimmy,” she says to Blick. “I’m afraid he was crushed by fallen plant troughs.”
However, when Blick is in the woman’s apartment, the Blick reporter discovers the cat – it is on the wall under a plant. The resident is relieved: “Now I’ll wait until he comes in. He’s probably shocked, as am I.”
Police were on duty
As the Zurich canton police confirmed to Blick, a corresponding operation was underway. A report was received at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The fire brigade and the police were on site.
According to the first findings, there were no injuries in the accident. The investigation into the cause of the accident would now be initiated.
