Brazilian star of Paris Saint-Germain Neymar will be tried from October 17 to 31 in Barcelona for alleged irregularities committed during his transfer from Santos to FC Barcelona in 2013.
Neymar, accused of corruption, will be tried alongside his parents and former Barça presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell, a month before the World Cup in Qatar (November 21-December 18). The prosecution requested 2 years in prison once morest him.
Former partial holder of the player’s rights, the Brazilian group DIS is behind this case. He felt aggrieved during the transfer of the striker and had filed a complaint once morest Neymar, his father, the Santos club, Barça and their leaders.
Barça had officially priced the player’s transfer at 57.1 million euros: 40 million for Neymar’s family, 17.1 for Santos. But according to justice, it actually cost at least 83.3 million.
DIS, which had received 6.8 million euros out of the 17.1 paid to Santos, therefore accuses Neymar and Barça of having hidden the real amount from him to pay him less money. The Brazilian group said in a press release that it was “satisfied” with the announcement of the trial schedule.
