War in Ukraine: Ukrainians looking for work in Brussels are mostly women

In the Brussels Region, just over 1,200 Ukrainians are currently registered as job seekers, according to figures obtained by the Belga press agency from the Brussels employment agency Actiris. Eight out of ten job seekers are women.

At the beginning of May, the Brussels Region announced that it expected up to 5,000 Ukrainians to register as job seekers. Since the beginning of the conflict at the end of February, they are 1,232 in this case. The majority, 81.7%, are women and 72.1% belong to the age group of 25 to 49 years. In almost all cases, these people have an unrecognized foreign diploma, but 68.3% of job seekers in Ukraine have a higher education diploma.
