Absent during the first set, Quentin Halys ended up losing in three sets once morest Ilya Ivashka in the first round of the ATP tournament in Atlanta.

It was definitely not the day of the French in Atlanta. A few minutes following Benoît Paire, the second tricolor representative in Georgia also saw his career come to an end prematurely. Opposed to Ilya Ivashka, Quentin Halys was dominated in three sets. A meeting that the French might not have started worse. If he had two opportunities to take the service of the Belarusian at the very start of the game, the native of Bondy never knew how to keep his face-off. Indeed, Ilya Ivashka managed to convert three of his five break points in game of service won on the commitment of Quentin Halys. The result was final with a first set won in less than half an hour and without conceding the slightest game by the 53rd in the world.

Halys was able to react but did not hold

The second round started in a more balanced way but it was Ilya Ivashka who had the first opportunity to break. However, not wanting to sink in this meeting, the Frenchman was able to dismiss this break point before taking his opponent’s service himself. Holding on, even when the Belarusian had two opportunities to come back high, Quentin Halys restarted the match with his first set point. Both players held their serve solidly for most of the last set. Wear, Ilya Ivashka had the last word. Taking the service of the Habs to lead five games to three, the 53rd in the world only needed a match point to conclude the meeting (6-0, 3-6, 6-3 in 1h47 ‘) and join Reilly Opelka, seeded number 1, in the round of 16.
