Political forces in Beirut criticize Nasrallah’s uniqueness in the war decision
Regarding the recent statements made by the Secretary-General of the Lebanese “Hezbollah” Hassan Nasrallah, in which he threatened to bomb the Israeli gas wells, the Israeli army revealed that it is conducting extensive exercises with the participation of the navy and the air force to repel such attacks.
And Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz stated that his army would respond painfully to any attack. Gantz said that the Karish field, which Hezbollah considers to be located in Lebanese economic waters, is located south of all border lines claimed by the Lebanese government and is completely inside Israeli economic waters. Therefore, Hezbollah’s threats are misplaced, and the Israeli government does not see any reason to prevent it from producing gas from this field on the scheduled date, early September.
“We want to reach an agreement with the government of Lebanon, but (Hezbollah) sprinkles spices and is riding a wave of sabotaging the agreement and disrupting it,” Gantz added. And whoever pays the price is the Lebanese people who are thirsty for solutions to their problems in the matter of energy, electricity and normal life.”
When asked regarding the seriousness of Hezbollah’s threats to Israel, Gantz said: “I think that Hezbollah knows that Israel is deterring it, and so does the government of Lebanon. We are alert and ready, so we have shot down the planes he sent, and if he does that ( once more) we will have to respond and our response will be painful.”
On the Lebanese side, Nasrallah’s recent positions, in which he set a deadline until next September to agree on the demarcation of the maritime borders with Israel, and his saying that he will act independently of the decision of the Lebanese state if this is not achieved, provoked the discontent of the Lebanese political forces rejecting his policy, and these forces warned once morest “the uniqueness of Nasrallah once once more decided on war and peace and weakened the state,” she said, adding that this policy “will push the country to explode.”
