After Percy Jackson, Disney + will revive a cult literary saga which nevertheless flopped at the cinema

If certain sagas adapted from novels have been a hit on the big screen, such as Harry Potter, Twilight et Hunger Games, a literary success is not necessarily synonymous with guaranteed success in the cinema. Several adaptations have been downright screwed up at the box office and have never had a sequel or end. This is for example the case of Divergentwhose release of the last film was cancelled, of The Mortal Instrumentswho then had a great success in series with Shadowhuntersor even Chronicles of Narnia.

In 2006, fans of the saga The Legacy – dont Eragon is the first volume – might discover in theaters an adaptation worn by Edward Speleers (seen later in Outlander), Jeremy Irons and Sienna Guillory. The film flopped and never got a sequel. But readers of the novels will (perhaps) soon have the joy of finding their favorite characters on screen.

A series Eragon in preparation on Disney+

16 years following the film’s release Eragon, the universe of Christopher Paolini might well return, this time in series and on Disney+. According to Variety, the platform is working on an adaptation of the novels and the author is linked to the project since he was hired as a co-writer. Something to reassure the followers of the books who had criticized too great differences with the novel when the film was released.

As a reminder, the cycle The Legacy has four novels, the last of which was published in 2012 (PRBK had even met Christopher Paolini for the release of the last book) and follows the story of Eragon, a young farmer who discovers an egg enclosing a dragon. Popular around the world, the saga exceeds 41 million copies sold.

Disney+ is already preparing another adaptation of a film that flopped

In addition to the project aroundEragonDisney + is also preparing the return of another unfortunate saga to the cinema: Percy Jackson. After two films carried in particular by Logan Lerman and Alexandra Daddario, the literary saga of Rick Riordan will be entitled to a series version and we already know the cast.
