The Day of Truth!
The energy ministers of the EU countries are meeting in Brussels today. Topic: the energy crisis in Europe.
► At the meeting, Germany might for the first time agree to extending the lifetime of nuclear power. And of all things, the green climate minister Robert Habeck (52) might deliver the message…
For weeks, the traffic light coalition has been arguing whether the last three nuclear power plants should be operated beyond their shutdown date (December 31, 2022) in order to save gas for electricity production. The FDP is for it.
Climate Minister Habeck has so far rejected the “extended operation” of the nuclear reactors and wants to wait for the results of a new “stress test” (bottleneck simulation). Chancellor Olaf Scholz (64, SPD) and Environment Minister Steffi Lemke (54, Greens) made similar statements.
But now everything might suddenly happen very quickly.
Read only with BILDplus what the energy ministers’ summit means for politics in Germany and why the Greens in particular are under pressure to act.
