The discovery of the Formula 3 world championship is not crowned with success for Grégoire Saucy. The Jura driver only scored once during the first five meetings of the season (with two races on the program each time). It was during the Bahrain Grand Prix at the opening of the championship. Since then, the Vadais has been unlucky and struggling to take off. He was the victim of four clashes. However, the 22-year-old sportsman is not panicking. “I remember that the performance is there, loose Grégoire Saucy. We had a lack of success during qualifying. The driver from Bassecourt wants to take advantage of the end of the season – with four more Grand Prix on the program as of Saturday in Hungary – to prove his talent. “I keep the positive and look to the future,” he said, he who still aims to complete his first year in world F3 in the top 5. For the time being, the Vadais occupies the 16th place in the general classification.
The Jurassien is taking advantage of this discovery of planetary Formula 3 to rub shoulders with the best drivers in the world. During each race, “we are F3, F2 and F1 combined”, he slips. And even if the Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen or other Charles Leclerc remain inaccessible, Grégoire Saucy tries to take advantage of it when he has the opportunity. “It’s just fantastic,” he says, impressed by the public present at each meeting.
Grégoire Saucy is attacking the home straight of the season this weekend. The four Grand Prix on the program will follow one another in the space of a month and a half: Budapest from July 29 to 31, Spa-Francorchamps from August 26 to 28, Zandvoort from September 2 to 4 and finally Monza from 9 to 11 september. /msc
