Indian opener Shubman Gill was dismissed following attempting a ‘dill scoop’ shot in the second ODI once morest West Indies in Trinidad. This is the shot that Sri Lankan all-rounder Thilakaratne Dilshan introduced in cricket years ago. In this shot, the ball has to go past the wicket keeper from his knees to cross the boundary. Gill attempted the ‘Dilscoop’ shot in the second ODI at Port of Spain on July 24.

Despite a good effort, Gill was unable to successfully complete the Dilscoop. The incident took place in the 16th over while the West Indies were chasing a target of 312 runs. The ball went straight into the hands of the Windies bowler on Gill’s short scoop. Windies bowler Kyle Meyers caught the ball with ease. All Gil did at this point was watch his exit in despair.

Video footage of the eviction has also surfaced. Shubman Gill faced 49 balls and got out following scoring 43 runs. Batting first, West Indies scored 311 runs for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs. In reply, India overcame the target by losing eight wickets with two balls to spare. Shreyas Iyer (63), Sanju Samson (54) and Axar Patel (64) scored fifties for Team India. India clinch the series with their second win (2–0).
