Max Verstappen “63 points difference is larger than actual ability difference” / F1 French GP[F1-Gate .com]

Max Verstappen has expanded his lead to Charles Leclerc at the F1 Monaco Grand Prix to a record 63 points, but admits that the difference is partly due to luck.

Max Verstappen, who was running second in the early stages, took over the lead when Charles Leclerc crashed on lap 18 with a single spin, scoring his seventh win of the season.

Charles Leclerc is also responsible for the crash, lamenting the loss of opportunity.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen emphasized the need to “keep focused” for the upcoming F1 Hungarian Grand Prix.

“Of course, it’s a great lead, but a lot of things can happen and I just want to stay focused. I need more good results and more one-lap pace.”

“The next race will be Budapest. I think it will be a little more difficult for us. I think Ferrari is really fast. It’s important to score points in every race, even if it’s not your own.”

“On our side, we know we need to find a good performance, especially over one lap. We’ll work on that. It’s still important to always score points, even on bad days like Austria. Of course, our lead is great, but looking at the performance between the two, I think it’s probably a bit bigger than it should be. “

Max Verstappen was surprised that Charles Leclerc wasn’t fast at the opening stint of the race, but added that Scuderia Ferrari was aware that he still had a “very fast car.”

“I thought he was faster. I thought it would be very difficult to follow Leclerc, but I soon realized that it wasn’t out of balance,” continued Max Verstappen.

“We looked very competitive. Of course, that’s what we want.”

“They (Ferrari) may have learned quite a lot, of course, and I think they know they’re bringing in upgrades. Sometimes it helps with tire degradation. Today, they’re a little bit Sliding and still very fast in front of us, it just shows that they have a very fast car. ”
