According to the ice cream import and export trend announced by the Korea Customs Service on the 26th, ice cream exports in the first half of this year recorded $50 million, an increase of 14.0% compared to the same period last year. did.

Previously, ice cream exports last year reached a record high of $72 million and imports $52 million, respectively, and this upward trend continues into the first half of this year.

An official from the Korea Customs Service said, “The ice cream surplus in the first half of this year was $21 million, a record that surpassed the record for the largest year-on-year and the largest for the same period in the first half of this year. This has been going on for 14 consecutive years, and it is certain that the surplus will continue this year as well.”

It is analyzed that the surge in ice cream exports is attributable to the worldwide heat wave and the increasing demand for cool snacks that can be easily enjoyed at home.

In addition, thanks to the global popularity of Korean popular culture, interest in K-food is increasing, and the development of various products tailored to local characteristics is contributing to the export growth.

Meanwhile, while the largest export-import country for domestic ice cream is the United States, in the first half of this year, Korea’s share in the global ice cream export market is increasing, with trading countries showing an increasing trend, such as 48 exporting countries and 22 importing countries.
