Toulouse Atlanta’s new fire and rescue center opens its doors

It is now operational. This Monday, July 25, 2022, the firefighters of Haute-Garonne invest the new Toulouse Atlanta fire and rescue center. Located on Boulevard d’Atlanta in Toulouse, near the ring road, the new establishment opens its doors following several months of work, as announced by the Haute-Garonne firefighters on their Facebook page.

The fourth new center around Toulouse

In the space of 15 months, it is the fourth center to open in the Toulouse region. These new structures are part of the construction program designed by the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Haute-Garonne. Their objective: “to adapt its organization to demographic growth and the evolution of risks in the department”.

Montgiscard hosted the first center on May 25, 2021, then Aussonne and Toulouse Delrieu opened their doors. It is now the turn of Toulouse Atlanta. The fifth centre, Toulouse Carsalade, has already been announced in October 2022.

New sector covered by SDIS 31

The new barracks have been strategically thought out. It is located inside the Toulouse ring road and close to it, on Boulevard d’Atlanta. “He will come in support of the barracks which intervene in Toulouse and cover 10 municipalities”, specifies the SDIS 31 on Facebook.

The cities of Flourens, L’Union, Launaguet, Mons, Pin Balma and part of those of Aucamville, Balma, Dremil-Lafage, Fonbeauzard and Toulouse were, before the creation of the new center, defended by those of Ramonville Saint-Agne , Rouffiac-Tolosan or Toulouse Lougnon.

73 professional firefighters

From this Monday, July 25, the team of new rescue center takes possession of the premises. In total, 73 professional firefighters, 46 volunteers and two administrative, technical and specialized staff are assigned to it. They are then divided into four teams led by four non-commissioned officers in charge of the team of the rank of warrant officer.

Four outside officers will also come to take guard duty. This is how Captain Marie Mélard-Béril and Lieutenants Dominique Dubois, Philippe Haensler and Sébastien Pradelles will come as reinforcements from time to time.

Many new or reconditioned vehicles

After the human means, the material means. The new barracks was equipped with 16 new and reconditioned vehicles. For the most curious, the vehicles acquired are as follows:

  • 2 rescue and victim assistance vehicles (VSAV);
  • 1 medium forest fire tanker (CCFM);
  • 1 ton pump van (FPT);
  • 1 automatic turntable ladder (EPA);
  • 1 various intervention vehicle (VID);
  • 1 beaconing vehicle (VBAL);
  • 1 road rescue vehicle (VSR);
  • 1 van vehicle (VF);
  • 1 light all-terrain vehicle (VLTC).

The rescue center was notably described as emergency support center for the specialty of technological risks. It is for this reason that some vehicles have also been added:

  • 1 cellule pollution (CEPOL) ;
  • 1 decontamination cell (CEDEC);
  • 1 chemical risk vehicle (VICH);
  • 1 mobile radiological intervention cell (CMIR);
  • 1 light detection vehicle (VLD);
  • 1 cell carrier vehicle (VPCE).

This Monday morning, before 10 a.m., the firefighters announced on their Facebook page their first intervention with their rescue and victim assistance vehicle (VSAV).
