(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Kyung-yun = Writer Jang Seong-rak, who was in charge of the famous webtoon ‘Level Up Alone’, passed away on the 23rd.
Red Ice Studio announced on the 25th that writer Jang Seong-rak died of a cerebral hemorrhage while suffering from a chronic illness.
Jang is a writer who has drawn action fantasy comics genres such as ‘Beautiful Legend’ and ‘Space Dandy’, and since March 2018, ‘Level Up Alone’ was serialized on Kakao Page and gained popularity. He also served as the representative of Red Ice.
‘Level Up Alone’ tells the story of Jinwoo Seong, an E-class hunter, who awakens and becomes the strongest hunter.
In 2016, writer Chugong wrote a web novel, and as it became a webtoon in 2018, it recorded 14.2 billion global views.
Recently, in collaboration with A-1 Pictures, a famous Japanese animation production company, we decided to produce an animation of ‘Level Up Alone Alone’.
Kakao Entertainment, the publisher of the series, said, “I am deeply saddened by the sudden death of the author who caused the K-webtoon craze around the world.”
