On paper, the 2022-23 edition of the Montreal Canadiens is beginning to take shape. Aside from Kirby Dach and Cayden Primeau, all the current members of the organization have a contract for the next season, and the team being pressed once morest the salary cap, do not expect a rain of moves from personal.
There might be a trade or two to try and free up some money to sign Dach, but probably nothing more.
However, there is still (at least) one acquisition that CH must make for next season: an assistant coach to replace Luke Richardson.
The name of Alain Nasreddine had circulated earlier this summer (before the departure of Richardson), but in the end, this one agreed to go and support Peter DeBoer in Dallas.
However, while he was passing through Sick Podcast of Tony Marinaro, Nasreddine claimed he offered his services to the Canadian earlier this summer.
Nasreddine, a Montrealer who grew up as a fan of the Habs, would have really liked to support Martin St-Louis (who greatly impressed him last year), but since Richardson was still in office at the time, the CH did not had not need of his services at this time.
Could Nasreddine have become St. Louis’ assistant if Richardson had left earlier? It is not impossible.
That said, Nasreddine is very happy to have obtained a chance in Dallas, where he will notably have the chance to work with Miro Heiskanen. He knows how talented the young Finn is and he can’t wait to rub shoulders with him.
During his interview with Marinaro, the Stars assistant coach was also asked regarding PK Subban, with whom he worked for three years at the Devils. According to Nasreddine, Subban still has a lot of hockey in his body and he is aware that his role is no longer that of a #1 defender, but of being a good supporting defender (which Nasreddine believes he can do) .

Nasreddine is really a good head of hockey and I strongly encourage you to listen to his interview with Marinaro, which I give to you ICI. I would have really liked to see him in Montreal, sincerely.
In short, we’ll see who will end up inheriting the assistant position in Montreal (or posts if ever the CH is looking for two). It won’t be Nasreddine, that said, but we still wish him a lot of success in Dallas.
