The Geneva Home Care Institution (IMAD) lifted its heat wave system on Monday evening. For eleven days, its teams were in daily contact with more than 2,500 vulnerable people to check their state of health.
IMAD employees made 11,324 calls – around a thousand a day – to people detected upstream as being at high risk, IMAD said on Monday. Objective: to ensure their safety, identify warning signs in the face of a risk linked to high temperatures and possibly go to the site to check the state of health of the person.
In this context, staff made 393 visits. For customers receiving daily visits from IMAD, the detection of warning signs was done directly by employees.
The cantonal doctor’s service lifted the heat wave alert on Monday evening. This second episode of strong scorching heat was particularly long, notes the IMAD which had already initiated the ad hoc system from June 17 to 21.
