Vehicles that do not meet weight and size limits in Saudi will be fined and banned

Dammam: The Saudi Ministry of Interior has approved a law to ban vehicles that do not meet the maximum weight and size allowed for trucks in Saudi Arabia from public transport. Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Naif approved the terms and fines issued by the General Directorate of Traffic Authority. The Saudi General Directorate of Traffic revised the fines and related measures in view of increasing accidents due to excessive weight and overloading.

Vehicles that do not comply with the maximum weight and size allowed for trucks will be fined. The fine ranges from 200 to 100,000 riyals. The amount will be determined according to the level of violation. Apart from the fine, the traffic department is also allowed to impound the vehicles. The measure will be taken according to the weight recorded from the authorized weighing centers of the country. Fines and penalties are doubled if trucks continue to travel without recording their weight at weighing stations.
