The Maronite League: Christian leaders must show solidarity in this pivotal station

The Executive Council of the Maronite League issued the following statement:

The Executive Council of the Maronite League, headed by Ambassador Khalil Karam and with the participation of the former presidents of the League, received: the former MP Neamatallah Abi Nasr, the former head of the Bar Antoine Qilimus, Prince Haris Shehab, Archbishop Moussa Al-Hajj, at ten o’clock this followingnoon, where a meeting was held that lasted three For hours and a half, Archbishop Al-Hajj presented the exact details of what he was exposed to at the Naqoura crossing, considering that this matter was deliberate, not accidental, and that it was not the first time that he had been harassed when crossing into Lebanon, and it is a treatment that is not worthy of a cleric. It also contradicts the laws which fosters the relationship with the clergy and spiritual leaders of different sects, and Archbishop Al-Hajj stressed that what he did was to deliver aid to Lebanese families for humanitarian reasons and motives that have nothing to do with politics or any agenda.
There was a long discussion regarding what His Excellency was subjected to, and the dimensions that it carried.

As a result of the extended meeting, the Executive Board of the Association announced the following:

1- The Maronite League recalls its previous and firm stances regarding the outrageous behavior of Archbishop Moussa Al-Hajj, and affirms its adherence to the points raised by His Eminence Cardinal Patriarch Mar Beshara Boutros Al-Ra’i in his homily yesterday and his speech before the crowds that filled the edifice of faith. As well as the statement of the Synod of Maronite Bishops on this issue, and its adoption.

2- The Maronite League commends the role that Archbishop Moussa Al-Hajj plays in serving his flock with dedication and an abstract apostolic spirit, and it affirms its solidarity and sympathy with him.

3- The Maronite League, while appreciating the position of the spiritual authorities in solidarity with the position of Bkerke, calls on the Christian leaders in general and the Maronite ones in particular, to show solidarity with each other in this pivotal station, and to stand firmly in front of the attempt to dwarf the role that Bkerke has played throughout history, and is still, and not slip Behind any selfish and selfish interests that would sow division in the same class, and weaken its effectiveness in this circumstance in which the homeland is witnessing pivotal entitlements that determine its future course.

The head of the Maronite League, Ambassador Khalil Karam, had started the meeting with a speech in which he referred to the historical presence of the Maronites in Palestine and the Holy Land, and the prominent guiding role of Maronite pontiffs and thinkers in uncovering plans aimed at establishing the state of Israel, since the beginning of the twentieth century, a role that never stopped, and that Any skepticism or interpretation of the position of the Maronite Church on the Palestinian issue is a response to its owners. Hence the positions of the League opposing the targeting of Archbishop Al-Hajj and the role he plays.
