A risk of severe thunderstorms persists for Monday. The culprit: the cold front linked to the low pressure system that is sweeping the province. The latter creates uplift, setting the stage for instability.
The southern sectors of the province are likely to be affected in the morning on Monday, before the potential migrates to the east. It is in the followingnoon that the regions of central and eastern Quebec might hear thunder rumbling.
Severe weather might also pick up the slack as the day progresses. Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean and a portion of Chaudière-Appalaches are at moderate risk.
Heavy rain and strong gusts will be expected. Small hailstones are also possible, especially in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean and on the North Shore.
The thunderstorms should gradually leave the territory during the day, ending an unstable sequence of almost a week.
