Since Halo Infinite’s release, several problems have overlapped and players’ complaints have been accumulating. Online matchmaking is not supported in the campaign cooperative mode, which has recently been released in beta, and multiplayer lag continues to occur due to synchronization problems between game clients and servers. Among these, it has been reported that when enjoying multiplayer, data is wasted by downloading 300MB to 900MB of data following completing one game.

This problem became a topic of discussion on the 21st when a user using the nickname Neeko reported on Twitter. He found that 305MB of data per game was being downloaded, and following further checking, it was regarding 11MB per game while playing. After two rounds, it said that I get more than 1 GB of traffic.

The related content drew the sympathy of many overseas users who enjoyed Halo Infinity, and additional user analysis results were posted on the Halo Reddit bulletin board. The user, nicknamed Surasia, pointed out that Halo Infinite Season 2 banner images are downloaded between 1 and 2,000 times, which wastes 1-1.5 GB of data.

343 Industries, which developed Halo Infinite, is investigating the issue of downloading additional data following the multiplayer game is over through Halo Support’s official Twitter on the 23rd, and related improvements will be made in August. It will be included in the update. However, if a huge amount of traffic is generated per game, users who use an internet plan with a data limit are in a situation where they can no longer play the game due to the capacity burden. Accordingly, on the 24th, the production team performed an update to improve the amount of data that was downloaded following the game was over, and they announced that they would make additional improvements in August by continuously monitoring related problems.

Halo Infinite received a decent review on Metacritic for the Xbox Series X version with an expert rating of 87. However, poor follow-up support, including the problem pointed out this time, is one of the factors that hinders the reputation of the series.
