Russian media reported that a 7-year-old boy’s finger was broken by a robot at a chess match in Moscow last week.
“The robot broke the child’s finger,” the head of the Russian Chess Federation, Sergey Lazarev, confirmed to TASS news agency. “This is of course a bad thing,” he said.
A video posted on social media showed the robot taking one of the boy’s pieces. Then the child made his move, and the robot grabbed his finger.
Four people rushed to help the child, and they managed to free him and keep him away.
Lazarev said the machine had played several matches before without any accidents being reported.
And TASS news agency reported that the child was able to complete the tournament with his hand in a cast.
