Hinteregger’s father warns: “Learned nothing from the Robert Enke case?”

The debut as a striker in the Carinthian Lower League East did not go according to plan for Martin Hinteregger. The 29-year-old suffered a 3-0 defeat with his home club from Sirnitz. The former Frankfurt star was still happy following the game: “It was just great fun!”

The positive mood of the Europa League winner seems to have been just a snapshot, however, the 67-time ÖFB team player has repeatedly been caught up with the negative headlines of the past few months. Martin Hinteregger’s father, Franz, says in the “Krone”: “Austria’s media celebrated Martin – but in Germany he was once more put in the right-wing extremist light, labeled as a problem boy” and warns: “Martin read the news in the morning and cried. The whole family is ready. When will the media rush stop? Didn’t you learn anything from the Robert Enke case?”
