After several months of work, the Toulouse Atlanta fire and rescue center will be operational tomorrow morning. This is the 4th new center to open in the Toulouse conurbation in the space of less than 15 months.
It is one of five rescue centers built ex-nihilo in the Toulouse conurbation, which is more generally part of the vast construction program undertaken by the Haute-Garonne SDIS to adapt its organization to population growth and the evolution of risks in the department.
Improving the quality of relief
The first opened on May 25, 2021 in Montgiscard, closely followed by those of Aussonne then Toulouse Delrieu. The opening of this barracks, which will then be followed by that of Toulouse Carsalade in October 2022, will make it possible to optimize the operational coverage of the defended territory by reducing intervention times, and to improve the quality of relief for the benefit of population.
Who says new rescue center, says new sector. Located in inner Toulouse, on Boulevard d’Atlanta, close to the ring road, the Toulouse Atlanta rescue center has a strategic position. It will come in support of the barracks which intervene in Toulouse and cover ten municipalities, partially or totally, formerly defended by the rescue centers of Ramonville Saint-Agne, Rouffiac-Tolosan and Toulouse Lougnon.
The communes served on first call by the barracks are those of Flourens, L’union, Launaguet, Mons, Pin Balma and part of those of Aucamville, Balma, Dremil-Lafage, Fonbeauzard and Toulouse.
