Dell has just launched a new gaming laptop, the Dell G16, which succeeds the Dell G15. Announced alongside Alienware’s new 480Hz beast, the new G16 is more modest while still being just as interesting. It indeed brings serious evolutions compared to its predecessor in order to offer a new screen format as well as a more than satisfactory performance. Everything will then be done at a rather contained price.
A 16:10 screen
In terms of new features, the Dell G16 stands out above all for its screen. Indeed, it is the very first gaming laptop to adopt a 16:10 format for its screen. This then allows the American manufacturer to integrate a larger 16-inch panel in a smaller frame designed for a 15-inch screen.
The display itself consists of a 16-inch LCD panel with a QHD+ definition of 2560 x 1600 pixels. It also benefits from a refresh rate of 165 Hz as well as a brightness of 300 nits.
A great performance
Under the hood, the Dell G16 contains a rather muscular configuration. We are entitled to a 12th generation Intel Core processor, and more specifically a Core i7-2700H clocked at 4.7 GHz. This is supported by 16 GB DDR5 RAM and a choice of 512 GB or 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD storage.
The graphics part also offers the choice between two different graphics cards. You can then take an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti with 4 GB GDDR6 memory or an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 with 6 GB GDDR6 memory.
Other Dell G16 Features
The connectivity offered on the Dell G16 includes 3 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, an HDMI 2.1 output, an RJ45 Ethernet port and a mini-jack combo socket. You can also find a Thunderbolt 4 port but only on the versions with an RTX 3060 graphics card. Those with an RTX 3050 Ti will then be satisfied with a simple USB-C port with DisplayPort. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.
For the multimedia part, we are entitled to a pair of 2.5 W stereo speakers. There is also the presence of an HD webcam with microphones in support.
Power is provided by a 56 Wh 3-cell battery with a 180 W adapter for the version with RTX 3050 Ti. The one with an RTX 3060 uses an 86 Wh 6-cell battery with a 240 W charger. Everything is powered by Windows 11 Home or Pro.

The Dell G16 gaming laptop is already available on the brand’s official store. Its price starts at 1400 € for the most basic version.
