Engineer Islam Khaled, a communications expert, said that electronic phones and all electrical circuits contain gold, explaining that the volume of gold in these devices is not large, and is calculated as a percentage of a thousandth of a gram in the device: “If anyone wants to exploit it, he must have millions of old devices.” .
A percentage of gold in the mobile chip
Khaled added, during an interview with the “8 Al-Sabah” program, broadcast on the “dmc” screen, and presented by the media, Dalia Ashraf, that the design of the mobile chip also contains a percentage of gold.
He explained that there are scientists in a foreign university who have discovered a way to extract gold from old electronic devices in a non-toxic way, pointing out that in order to extract gold, a large amount of electrical circuits will be needed in the old devices.
gold extraction method
He pointed out that there is a statistic that showed that 7% of the gold in the world is found in old electronic devices, and to extract the precious metal from these devices in the past, they used chemicals such as mercury, and therefore the extraction product in the end contains toxic substances such as lead.
He stated that old electrical appliances that contain a percentage of gold do not affect its value in excess, and there are no environmental risks for people to keep their old devices at home.
He continued: “In order to extract gold from old devices, we need devices in huge numbers, and Apple has announced a while ago that it collects old mobiles, as it will collect regarding one million mobile phones, for example, to use gold in these devices once more in the formation of electronic circuits for old mobiles, while as individuals, the situation Difficult”.
