The American singer Ben Harper intends to leave the United States for France soon. The man said he hesitated between “Toulouse, Bordeaux and Paris” for his new main residence.
“I’m giving my last concert (in the United States) in August and following that I won’t be returning,” declared Ben Harper to our colleagues at Release. The American singer recently announced his decision to leave the United States and he might well opt for Toulouse as his new main residence!
Even if the arrival of the famous singer would delight the people of Toulouse, it is with a heavy heart that Ben Harper leaves “his well-established roots.”
“I can no longer return to the United States. This country is going backwards, it is no longer possible,” he said. Indeed, the 52-year-old artist deplores in particular the recent decisions of the Supreme Court on the subject of the right to abortion, the prevailing racism and the dangerousness of carrying weapons. “It all got too toxic for me,” he said.
Toulouse future?
Ben Harper has therefore indeed opted for France as the new country of hearts. The American singer said he wanted to pack his bags “perhaps in Toulouse, Bordeaux, or Paris”.
The famous interpreter of Diamonds On The Inside notably expressed his love for the French scene on which he took his first steps and which undoubtedly influenced his choice.
“I still can’t explain it. There are musical genres that resonate more deeply here. Besides, one of the few conversations I had with Jeff Buckley was regarding France, because his music did very well here at the same time as mine,” he said.
While waiting to perhaps see Ben Harper strolling through the streets of Toulouse, the American singer is currently promoting his seventeenth album, Bloodline Maintenance.
