Through a tripartite agreement signed by the Government of the Province, the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA) and the Argentine company INVAP, a world leader in technological projects, the aim is to expand medical scientific capacities for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases oncological, cardiological and neurological, among others.
During a virtual meeting, in which the Secretary of Mining and Energy of the Ministry of Production and Sustainable Development participated, Flavia Royonthe director of Electric Power, Jorge Giubergia and representing the Undersecretary of Science and Technology, Fatima Soriathe project for the concretion of a High Complexity Nuclear Medicine Center for Salta was exposed.
It was agreed to develop technical cooperation for the definition of the center, training of human resources and the use of the property for the radioisotope production facilities.
The CNEA authorities highlighted the importance of the project for the NOA region and the need to train professional and technical personnel necessary for the future operation of the agency, for which it is essential to start training early.
Regarding academic training, it was proposed to install a Master’s Degree in Medical Physics, as one of the relevant careers within the project.
They participated in the virtual meeting, Maria Fernanda Dominguez, Fernando Laurinec, Gustavo Santa Cruz, Maria Fernanda Rodriguez, Jesuana Iscorbe, from the management of the CNEA. Also, the director of the Balseiro Institute, Daniel Domínguez and Institute director Dan Beninson Juan Carlos Furnari.
Master of Medical Physics
One of the professional offers that is expected to be developed in the provinces. The Master in Medical Physics is a career developed jointly by the Balseiro Institute and the Mendoza School of Nuclear Medicine Foundation (FUESMEN), created in 2003.
It is a widely recognized academic training with a research program in the medical applications of physics and engineering developed at the Bariloche Atomic Center, with concrete practice in the clinical setting carried out at FUESMEN.
Medical Physics consists of the application of the methods of physics for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Its application covers nuclear medicine and radiodiagnosis, radiotherapy, medical image processing, radiological protection, among others, including at a more advanced level, neurosciences and nanomedicine.
