According to the statement, these efforts include increased investigations, prosecutions and convictions for trafficking crimes, including investigations and arrests of suspected accomplices.

He clarified that the government of Burundi has created the new Consultation and Monitoring Commission on the Prevention and Suppression of Human Trafficking (National Commission on Trafficking) to lead the government’s anti-trafficking efforts.
