Built in the final stretch of the government of former President Roberto Suazo Córdova under the name Modesto Rodas Alvarado (historic leader of the Liberal Party), the building with capacity for 25,000 spectators was listed as the third largest stadium in the country, which made the fans think residents of La Paz with which there would be sporting events of the highest level, but it was quite the opposite, since the venue was abandoned for several decades, to the point of being called a “white elephant”.
