In Chacaltianguis, Veracruz, a Pemex pipeline explodes and a gas leak is recorded

A burst of a Pemex gas pipeline in the municipality of Chacaltianguis, in the Papaloapan basin, left two injured who were taken to the hospital, as well as several evicted people, authorities reported this Thursday, who arrived at the site to attend to the emergency in the state of Veracruz.

How many people were injured in the explosion?

According to local reports, the incident was recorded on the highway section Chacaltianguis-Tlacojalpan, in the town of Torno Largo. The governor of Veracruz, Cuitláhuac García Jiménez, confirmed at 11:45 a.m. this Thursday that two people were injured following the explosion.

“The two injured so far are confirmed, who are already being treated at the Hospital, they are given emergency medical treatment. In addition, the Secretary of the Government and the Secretary of Civil Protection have been instructed to travel to the municipality to coordinate any emergency work that may arise. We remain vigilant and reporting.”

was activated Plan DN-III, National Guard Plan of Aid, and the coordination of Civil Protection, which led to the evacuation of people in a precautionary manner and due to gas odors.

How will they control the explosion in Veracruz?

The Secretary of Civil Protection in Veracruz, Guadalupe Osorno Maldonado, indicated that first there was a gas leak and then the explosion. The gas flow is controlled at the moment and the pipelines have been closed; It is waiting for the gas to finish coming out of the pipeline for the fire to end.

For his part, the state governor pointed out that the security barriers had to be expanded because the initial flames reached the pipe with which the gas was allegedly extracted illegally, for which people were evacuated not only from the locality, but from neighboring towns.

Finally, the state president confirmed how the emergency personnel would control the situation:

“Pemex security personnel go to the point, they also inform that they will maintain the flame in order to consume all the gas residues that remain in the pipes following the main valves are closed.”

Guadalupe Osorno, secretary of Civil Protection, asked the inhabitants to stay away from the site of the explosion and asked the citizens to follow all the instructions that the personnel of the unit that he presides indicate.

It is unknown how many hours Civil Protection elements may take and Pemex in controlling the area, however, there are already several emergency bodies in place.
