At 9 p.m. the women’s European Championship quarter-finals between Germany and Austria will start. The largest public viewing zone is probably at the Film Festival on Rathausplatz, but you can also see the game in many other places – and cheer for the snail oracle, for example.

Due to the success of the Austrian women’s national team in the group phase of the European Football Championship, the cultural and culinary festival on July 21 will exceptionally not be showing a concert recording. This time, the Germany-Austria quarter-finals will be broadcast on the 300-square-metre screen on Rathausplatz. The match with the ÖFB women starts at 9 p.m.

Thousands of fans will have the opportunity to cheer on live. As usual, guests can enter the event free of charge. The visit takes place via Universitätsring and Felderstraße, where security checks are set up. The “TINA: LIVE!” program originally announced for Thursday is canceled in favor of the football game. The recording of the Tina Turner concert will then be shown on August 27th.

Again big stage for women team

After two wins and one defeat in the group stage, the euphoria surrounding the women’s national soccer team is very high once more. Five years ago, countless fans cheered on the town hall square when the team played the European Championship semifinals once morest Denmark. The film festival is thus once once more transformed into Austria’s largest public viewing arena. “I’m very happy that our footballers are being offered this big stage,” said Mayor Michael Ludwig.

Many more places with public viewing

The quarter-finals will also be shown live at many other locations in Vienna. This year there is also a public viewing in the Salettl on the campus of the old university in the ninth district. There the fans can make themselves comfortable in deckchairs in the large garden. The Badeschiff also broadcasts all matches of the EM in its own “EM arena”. It is also possible to reserve a table.

In the FM4 European Championship quarters in the Ottakringer brewery, you can also watch the Germany-Austria match live. One hour before the start of the game, the screens with the live transmission are switched on. Some indoor bars in the city will also broadcast the quarter-finals. These include Café Hummel in the eighth district, Hawidere in the 15th district, the Statt-Beisl in the WUK, Charlies Pub on Hütteldorfer Strasse, Chelsea in the Gurten arches, Morgenstern in the seventh district and Billabong on the Parkring.

Transmission with snail oracle

The quarter-finals in the garden bar of the Gugumuck snail manufacturer will also be broadcast. There is also a separate snail oracle. Eleven native Roman snails “run” for the Austrians and eleven spotted Roman snails for the German soccer players. In the second half, the two fastest snails per team compete once morest each other. “Including stoppage time, we’ll have a winner, of course I hope Austria,” said owner Andreas Gugumuck.
