Burkina: Reimbursement of salaries and diplomacy on the menu of the newspapers

Ouagadougou, July 20, 2022 (AIB) – The Burkinabè dailies on Wednesday are dealing with the files of reimbursement of the salaries of civil servants cut in 2019 for the strike and France-Burkina cooperation.

“Irregular deductions from wages: PM orders reimbursement”, headlines the dean of private daily newspapers in Burkina Faso, L’Observateur Paalga.

The colleague indicates that the Prime Minister (PM) of Burkina Faso, Albert Ouédraogo orders the reimbursement of the salaries and wages of public officials unduly deducted or suspended.

The Obs. let it be known, through a note from the Prime Minister, that public officials have experienced deductions or suspensions of salaries or wages following their participation in trade union activities.

In its ”Revelations” section, the private daily newspaper Le Pays notes that a circular from the PM dated July 19, 2022, underlined that to benefit from the reimbursement, the public official concerned must bring the supporting documents in order to obtain the full refund of the amount unduly debited.

It is right that the private newspaper Le Quotidien publishes: “Ministry of the Public Service, Labor and Social Protection: Measures to repair the harm caused to agents”.

Under another chapter, the national daily Sidwaya displays on its first page: “Rural development: France supports Burkina with more than 9 billion CFA francs”.

The public daily reports that the minister in charge of the economy, Séglaro Abel Somé and the French ambassador to Burkina, Luc Hallade, signed two agreements in Ouagadougou on Tuesday (July 19th) for the financing of projects to modernize and strengthen emergency rural public services and the extension of the social safety net project.

For his part, the dean of private daily newspapers in Burkina has indicated that France has granted the State of Burkina Faso a sum of 9.19 billion CFA francs in the form of a subsidy for the financing of its projects.

As for the private newspaper Today in Faso, it returns to the speech of the French ambassador to Burkina, Luc Hallade, delivered on July 14 during his country’s national holiday.

The colleague highlights the part of the speech where the French diplomat declares: “France will always support Burkina Faso in the fight once morest terrorism”.

L’Express du Faso, a private daily published in Bobo-Dioulasso devotes its headline to culture, headlining: “FESPACO 2023: 1132 films registered including 102 Burkinabe films”.

According to the Bobolais daily, the 28e edition of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) will be held from February 25 to March 4, 2023.

According to him, this announcement was made yesterday, during a press conference by the general delegate of FESPACO, Moussa Alex Sawadogo in the presence of the Minister in charge of communication and culture, Valérie Kaboré.
