The fire near Ninglinspo in Aywaille is under control, but substantial extinguishing work is still necessary (video)

A major fire broke out in a wood on Wednesday followingnoon in Aywaille, firefighters from the Vesdre – Hoëgne & Plateau rescue zone said. 41 firefighters were mobilized and 2 hectares were affected by the flames.

The firefighters were called at 3:21 p.m. for a major wood fire in Sedoz, in support of zone 5 WAL. Numerous resources were deployed with 18 vehicles, including seven from the VHP zone: pumper, self-ladder, tank truck, officer vehicle, Pc-Ops, drone.

The firefighters also received support from civil protection, with three tanks, as well as the contribution of two federal police helicopters, one for the water drop and one for the thermal camera.

The N633 has been closed in both directions to allow operations. At 6:30 p.m., the fire was under control but substantial extinguishing work was still necessary.
