‘Set aside because he is a Dalit’; UP minister Dinesh Khatik resigns; Backlash to Yogi – Dinesh Khatik | Uttar Pradesh Minister | Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Water Resources Minister Dinesh Khatik has resigned, alleging that he was sidelined because he was a Dalit. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has sent his resignation letter. The resignation of a minister from the Dalit community within months of being re-elected with a huge majority is a setback for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. It is reported that Jitin Prasada, another minister, is also not happy with Yogi. He is currently in Delhi and is said to be meeting the BJP leadership.

In a letter to Amit Shah, Dinesh Khatik says that he has not been given any job for 100 days. This hurt a lot. The letter says that this is why he is resigning and there is an irregularity in the departmental transfer.

“Being a Dalit, I was not given any importance. No authority as a minister. I have not been called to any meeting. It says nothing regarding my department. This is an insult to the Dalit community,” says the letter. It is indicated that the party has demanded that the resignation be withdrawn.

Meanwhile, public works minister Jitin Prasada is displeased with the suspension of an officer from his team by the chief minister. Jitin Prasada left the Congress and joined the BJP months before the UP assembly elections. There were many allegations of corruption in the Public Works Department.

The UP government on Tuesday suspended five senior officials of the Public Works Department for serious irregularities in departmental transfers. Anil Kumar Pandey, an IAS officer close to Jitin Prasada, was among those suspended for allegedly accepting bribes for transfers.
