This is the Blazer EV, Chevrolet’s first mid-size electric utility vehicle. The move follows a series of electric vehicle announcements from General Motors, including the electric Hummer and the Cadillac Lyric.
All of these cars rely on GM’s Altium system, which reduces wires in the battery area, freeing up space for more batteries, and thus helping to increase driving range.
The electric Blazer comes in several versions, including the first electric car with the “SS” or “Super Sport” logo from Chevrolet. This sports version will focus on high performance with two all-wheel drive engines that produce 557 horsepower, as well as many advanced features such as the Super Cruise driver assistance technology.
GM also announced a tracking model for police use.
The car will start at $47,595 when it hits the market in the summer of 2023.
