Al-Marsad newspaper: The official spokesman for the Jeddah Municipality, Muhammad Al-Baqmi, revealed the mechanism of removing the remaining slums in Jeddah.

Number of neighborhoods removed

During an interview with Al-Arabiya channel, he said: “The Slums Committee in Jeddah Governorate continues its work in accordance with the executive plan and the scheduled timetable, as the total of the removed neighborhoods that are being removed is 28 out of 32 neighborhoods, pointing out that the remaining 4 neighborhoods will be removed.”

He denied what was circulated regarding postponing the removal of the remaining four neighborhoods. Noting that the removal will take place according to the announced schedule.

Free services provided to neighborhood residents

He pointed out that many free services are provided to the residents of these neighborhoods, most notably housing services. He explained that during the last period, regarding 13,000 families were temporarily accommodated, and 202 permanent homes were provided to families, in addition to a number of other services.

He added, the removal plan is divided into stages, notice, evacuation, start of removal, and removal of rubble.

Announcing the remaining neighborhoods

And regarding the announcement of the remaining neighborhoods on the date of removal. He said, “It starts from July 23 with the notification of the Montazah neighborhood and in August the neighborhoods of Quwaizah, Al-Adl and Al-Fadl will be notified, and in September the neighborhoods of Umm Al-Salam and Kilo 14 will be notified.”

Compensation delivery

With regard to handing over compensation to the residents, he explained: “The process of delivering compensation was completed and announced at a later period, but we call on some owners in these neighborhoods to complete some clearances from the Electricity and Water Company, the Real Estate Development Fund, the Agricultural Development Fund and the Social Development Bank. After completing these clearances, checks are delivered compensation.
