The cultural relationship of the Emirates and France is a model of civilized interaction

Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, the UAE Minister of Culture and Youth, met, on Tuesday, in Paris, with Rima Abdel Malik, the French Minister of Culture.

This came on the sidelines of a state visit paid by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to the French Republic.

During the meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the French Ministry of Culture, they discussed aspects of cultural cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the French Republic and ways of unifying visions and trends in cultural affairs and coordinating work through relevant international organizations, as well as discussing the future of cultural relations, and the importance of creative and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides touched on a number of areas of cooperation, especially the cultural and creative industries that support the economy and local production.

During the meeting, Noura Al Kaabi announced the existing cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Youth and the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi regarding the UAE’s participation in the Lyon Biennale Festival, which will be held next September with the participation of artists from the Emirates for the first time.

Al Kaabi told the Emirates News Agency, WAM: “The UAE and the French Republic have close relations, supported by historical ties, and common hopes and ambitions in various fields, especially cooperation in the cultural field, which forms the centerpiece of these relations. Both countries are keen to strengthen partnership and cooperation frameworks and open new and broad horizons to support And the development of various cultural sectors and other fields that positively reflect on the relations that bring them together.”

She added: “The cultural relations between the UAE and France have become a remarkable model for optimal cultural exchange between countries and an example of effective civilized interaction between them. And at an accelerated pace, under the directives of the leadership in both countries.

The meeting comes on the sidelines of a “state visit” by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to the Republic of France, as his first official international destination since assuming the presidency.

This visit reflects the extent of the relations that bind the two countries as strategic partners in many common issues that serve the prosperity and stability of the peoples.
