Football: Lewandowski in Barcelona, it’s official

Former Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has signed up with FC Barcelona until 2027, the Catalan club announced on Tuesday evening. The thing seemed to have been heard for several weeks already.

“The Polish player will sign a contract for four seasons and his release clause amounts to 500 million euros,” continues Barça.
Lewandowski, 33, joined his teammates in Miami, United States, where Barca are due to play a series of pre-season friendlies. He had also hinted that the deal was done, regarding ten hours before the official announcement.
This is the fourth summer transfer for FC Barcelona, following Franck Kessié (AC Milan) and Andreas Christensen (Chelsea), who arrived free, and Raphinha (Leeds), recruited for 70 million euros.
Eight years spent in Bavaria
The Polish international left Bayern Munich following eight years in Bavaria, where he won a Champions League (2020), eight German championships and a Club World Cup (2020) and being named the best twice FIFA Player of the Year (2020 and 2021).
With the Bavarian club, he scored 344 goals and signed 72 assists in 374 matches.
