New Delhi – Union External Affairs Minister S. Jayashankar said that there is no possibility of a situation like the economic and political crisis in Sri Lanka in India. At the same time, he said, Sri Lanka is facing a serious crisis which worries India too. He was speaking at an all-party meeting on Tuesday.
“The reason for calling such an all-party meeting is the serious crisis Sri Lanka is facing. It is a very close neighbor thing. India too is naturally worried regarding the consequences given its proximity. In the context of the crisis Sri Lanka is facing, some wrong comparisons have been made to see if such a situation will happen in India too,” Jayashankar said.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi, Congress leaders P. Chidambaram, Manickam Tagore, NCP president Sharad Pawar, Anna DMK leader M. Thambidurai, Trinamool Congress leader Saugata Ray, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh, Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader Keshav Rao, along with Bahujan Samaj Party leader Ritesh Pandey, YSR Congress leader Vijayasai Reddy and MDMK leader Vaiko attended the meeting.
