National News Agency – Archbishop Daher presides over a mass on the occasion of St Elias Day

NNA – The Archbishop of Tripoli and the rest of the North of the Melkite Greek Catholics, Archbishop Edward Daher, presided over a festive mass at the Church of the Prophet Elijah the Zealot in the town of Chekka, on the occasion of the Feast of St. Elias, assisted by Archimandrite Elias Boustany, the Economist Elias Rahal, the parish servant, Father Basilius Ghafri, and Fathers John Al-Hajj Boutros. Fadi Mansour and the deacon Ziad Bitar, Representative Ghiath Yazbek, the mayor of Chekka, Farajallah Kfoury, the town’s mayors and events, and a crowd of parishioners and believers participated in the mass.

Bishop Daher delivered a sermon in which he said: “We gather with you on the name of one of the greatest of the prophets, Prophet Elijah the Jealous.

And he added: “Is the Prophet the one who reads our future to us? Or is he the one who pushes us into our future? How do we view the prophets as role models? Is their Lord our living Lord in them and in us?… We are in a world where the love of wheat is mixed with weeds, and truth with falsehood, and we often want To reconcile the first with the second and to combine the two extremes.

He continued: “We pray for our beloved country Lebanon, which is dying, as citizens suffer from poverty and destitution, and the axioms of life and the most basic rights to live are lost (food, drink, medicine and electricity…), and we are still living through difficult and harsh days from the spread of the Corona epidemic, in addition to political problems. and health, social and living crises, so we call on all officials, civil and municipal bodies and associations to join efforts and work together to establish a culture of cooperation, tolerance, love and coexistence to overcome together this crisis and contribute together to the renaissance of our society and our country and save it from the difficult ordeal it is going through, and we pray for peace in the world And for the sake of every sick person, and every needy person, so that the Lord may grant him the grace of healing, or relieve him of all distress or distress.

In the end, Bishop Daher and the fathers accepted Eid congratulations from the participants in the liturgy.
