Haller: I was very touched by the messages of support.. and I will come back stronger

Sebastian Haller, the new striker for the German club Borussia Dortmund, said today, Tuesday, that he was greatly affected by all the messages of support he received following announcing his suffering from a testicular tumor.

Borussia Dortmund club stated that Haller felt unwell following training yesterday, Monday, and underwent tests that resulted in his diagnosis of suffering from a tumor in the testicle.

Haller has left the team’s camp in Switzerland in preparation for the new season, and will undergo further examinations over the coming days.

“I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for these many messages,” Haller said on Instagram.

“I was very impressed, but I know that with you, it will be nothing more than another test on our way, we will see each other once more soon on the pitch to celebrate our next victories.”

“I will now focus on recovery in order to come back stronger,” he continued.

“The news was a shock to Sebastian Haller and everyone at the club,” said Sebastian Kell, Dortmund’s director of football.

He added: “The entire Borussia Dortmund family wishes Sebastian a speedy recovery and his return soon. We will do everything we can to ensure that he receives the best possible treatment.”

Coach Eden Terzic and the team learned regarding Haller’s illness following the friendly match once morest Valencia, Spain, on Monday evening.

The Ivorian Haller, 28, joined Borussia Dortmund earlier this July from Ajax.

“You are not alone, get well soon, Sebastian Haller,” Union Berlin defender Timo Baumgartel said on Instagram.

Tests revealed Baumgartel had testicular cancer earlier this year, and he underwent surgery to remove the tumor, and Hertha Berlin’s Marco Richter experienced a similar scenario.

Both Berlin clubs sent a message to Haller via the social networking site “Twitter”, where Hertha Berlin said, “We wish you good luck and a speedy recovery,” and Union Berlin said, “Dear Sebastian, come back quickly.”
