D’Onofrio last appeared as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the Disney+ series Hawkeyewhich followed Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton as he attempts to train Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld, to take over as the new Hawkeye. D’Onofrio first appeared as the villainous crime boss in Netflix’s Marvel Television series, Daredevila role he would play for three seasons until the show was canceled in 2019, along with the rest of Marvel’s Netflix shows, including Jessica Jones, Punisher, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. D’Onofrio reprised the role for Hawkeye on Disney+ and will appear once once more in the upcoming spinoff series, Echowhich will focus on Echo/Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox).

While the plot details surrounding Echo remain scarce, recent rumors suggest that Wilson Fisk’s role in the upcoming series will see him running for mayor of New York City. Whether or not these rumors are true, D’Onofrio’s role being confirmed for the upcoming spinoff also confirms that Fisk survived his injuries in the finale of Hawkeyewhich saw Echo shoot him and leave him for dead.

D’Onofrio has been open regarding his desire to continue playing Wilson Fisk in the MCU. “I really want to. There’s all these different facets,” D’Onofrio said in December 2021 regarding reprising the role. “The most interesting thing regarding this guy — and I think you can tell as we talk here — is what makes him tick. That is complicated and cool in my mind.”

Echo does not currently have a release date, but Hawkeye and Daredevil are both currently available on Disney+/
