Work experience is no longer required to obtain a nursing license in the UAE. The UAE waived the requirement of minimum two years of work experience to obtain a nursing license. Nursing graduates can take the licensure exam in all emirates of the country without any work experience.

This exemption is also available for Lab Technicians. The new decision is part of measures to unify the educational and professional qualifications of healthcare recruiters in the UAE. The new exemption will be applicable to all examinations by the Ministry of Health, Abu Dhabi Health Authority, Dubai Health Authority and Sharjah Health Authority that license medical staff.

Registered nurses who have completed their nursing degree can take the exam without two years of work experience. Registered nurses in Canada, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia who have completed a two-year nursing degree course can also apply for a license without work experience.
