Manchester United manager Eric Ten Hag said that his Portuguese player, Cristiano Ronaldo, still has a year left on his contract with the club, with the option of another year extension.
“The player really has the option to extend his contract for another year, with this contract expiring in June 2023,” the coach said in statements to English media from Melbourne, where the team began its preparations for the new season.
The player, who returned to Manchester in 2021, did not join the preparation season for family reasons, although there were rumors regarding his desire to leave, because the club will not participate in the Champions League next season.
Ten Hag said he is not worried regarding Cristiano’s absence, because he trains alone and is a great professional.
He said, “He will be in the right physical condition, I have no doubts.”
Regarding whether the player will return to training next week, he said: “I cannot answer this question, I do not know.”
