Switzerland rejects that its hospitals treat wounded in the Ukraine war

Swiss has rejected that both civilians and soldiers wounded in the war of Ukraine be treated in this country under cover of its traditional neutrality, despite requests from the I’LL TAKE to collaborate in this regard since local hospitals showed their availability, a local newspaper revealed on Monday.

The newspaper “Tages-Anzeiger” noted, citing the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairsthat it has rejected the reception of Ukrainian wounded in application of the Geneva Conventions of 1949, which establish that a neutral country cannot attend to soldiers of belligerent States if following that they can rejoin the conflict.

Although in principle this clause would not apply to civilians, Swiss prefers to extend it and “provide aid directly to Ukraine”, supporting hospitals in that territory, according to the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Switzerland, a hostile state for Russia

the war in Ukraine has caused that Swiss question this year its old policy of neutrality, at a time when Bern maintains once morest Moscow similar sanctions to those of the European Union for the invasion of Switzerland, something to which Russia has responded by including the Swiss government on its list of “hostile” states.

On the other hand, the Swiss Army has also indicated today that it will help Ukraine in demining and ammunition clearance operations in the country, through training courses in this field for Ukrainian specialists.

The courses are held in Geneva, within the framework of cooperation agreements between Swiss and the I’LL TAKErecalled the armed forces of the Central European country.
