Beauport: arrested drunk with a baby on board

A 31-year-old motorist allegedly tried to take the road while he was drunk, without a valid license and with a baby on board in a poorly fixed seat, before being prevented from doing so by a security guard and then arrested, at the end of Monday night in Quebec.

According to the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ), the individual was first expelled from a licensed establishment on rue Clemenceau in Beauport, following consuming alcohol there.

A security guard would have managed to arrest the individual, when he had just left the parking lot with his vehicle, then seeing a baby in the back.

The nine-month-old child was sleeping inside the vehicle and had wet clothes. His seat was not attached to the bench seat. He was reportedly assessed on the spot by paramedics before being handed over to his mother.

Another disturbing fact, the suspect had a criminal driving ban. He would have blown more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in the blood.

The police arrested him for driving while impaired, prohibited from driving, criminal negligence and breach of probation.

The defendant was expected Monday at the courthouse to appear before a judge.
