Narinder Batra resigns as president of International Hockey Federation

New Delhi: Veteran sports administrator Narinder Batra has resigned as president of the International Hockey Federation (FIH). Along with this, he resigned from the membership of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Earlier on May 25, following the Delhi High Court verdict, Batra was removed from Hockey India’s life membership. As a lifetime member of Hockey India, Batra headed national associations and international federations. However, the Delhi High Court ruled that life membership is an illegal status.

Along with this, the Delhi High Court found that the National Hockey Federation (Hockey India) had acted once morest the National Sports Code and appointed a three-member committee for the day-to-day running of Hockey India. With this ruling, the I.O.A. The position of president was also changed.

The High Court reiterated the Supreme Court’s order dissolving the All India Football Federation, former Supreme Court judge Anil R. Dave, former Chief Election Commissioner SY Qureshi and former captain of the Indian hockey team Zafar Iqbal have been formed as members of the governing body.
