A train derailed around noon on Sunday near Wasserauen (AI). Several people were injured in the accident, reports “le Blick”. The convoy reportedly collided with a passenger car. The police and emergency services, including Rega, are on site.
The Appenzell police confirmed the accident to 20 Minuten: “We can confirm the derailment of a train composition of the Appenzell Railways near Wasserauen. The train derailed following hitting a passenger car. There were injuries of which we cannot yet determine either the number or the seriousness. Currently, the report of the accident is still in progress”, thus indicated its spokesperson Stefanie Koller.
