Gretell Sanabia debuted A few days ago in the La voz contest, in the Peru edition. Since its start, it has had excellent reviews from the jury, among which there was “a fight” to sign the singer in her teams.

“La Cubana” is how the public calls and recognizes Gretell, who is currently part of the team of the Peruvian singer Eva Ayllón.

Ayllón was precisely the one who first turned the chair following listening to her blindly, surprising the entire audience with her talent.

What many may not know is that Gretell, 30 years old, has a degree in Literature from the University of Santiago de Cuba, her hometown, where she also dedicated herself professionally to music, singing in different formats.

The woman from Santiago, who stands out very well on the television show, has a story behind her that is also that of many Cubans. Precisely because Gretell arrived in Peru across borders, “looking for an improvement in the personal and professional aspect for my family and for me.”

Although La Voz is still in its initial phase, the auditions, she maintains the highest expectations and best wishes, ensuring that she will deliver everything in each performance. And that the public that follows her has felt greatly.

What does La Voz Perú mean to you personally and professionally?

La Voz Perú on a personal level means a challenge, because despite having sung at festivals and competitions since I was little, I had never participated in an international format, in a country that is not mine, but which I consider my second home and managed to conquer the heart of the Peruvian brothers with my voice. In the professional aspect, I consider it to be a wonderful platform to learn and make myself known to the whole world.

How has your experience in the contest been so far?

It’s being amazing. I feel that every day I grow more as an artist and a human being, because I learn from everything and everyone, starting with the production team that is made up of a very professional staff and also meeting many wonderful people with such talent.

How have you felt the support of the public?

This whole process has been so magical for me. I never thought that only my audition in La Voz Peru had such an international reach, although I know that when good vibes, positive energies, humility, gratitude and blessing complement each other, they can achieve wonderful and unimaginable things.

I am very grateful to each of the people who have made all this possible, every day I am convinced that we are more empathetic, that we share with our hearts the success of others as if it were our own and that we value what it means to sacrifice and fight because dreams become a reality, especially to my Cubans, who from various parts of the world have come together to genuinely support me. I love them!

What does it feel like to be “La Cubana” from La Voz Perú?

Being “The Cuban” of La Voz Perú is a very big commitment for me, because not only am I representing an entire country, but all those young artists who, like me, also yearn for an opportunity to grow are reflected in me. I feel very proud of my identity and wherever I go I will defend and share my essence, my culture and my roots with a lot of love.

After La Voz, what professional career have you considered?

I consider having my own project, defending my own songs and making a projection towards the international public, so that more people connect with my voice, identify with my style and accompany me in this world of music that is one of constant growth and learning.

What message do you send to those they admire you and continue in the contest both in Cuba and in the world?

To all the people who follow me in the contest I send my most sincere and deep gratitude, before being an artist I am a human being and I will always advocate for respect, empathy and the feeling that makes us better people.

I want to tell you that there are no impossible things in life when we believe in ourselves and that we can accomplish everything we set out to do with perseverance, dedication, passion and faith.

If you had to describe yourself in one sentence, what would it be?

I am a woman who does not sing to sound perfect, but to genuinely transcend with my voice.
